A support group for caregivers, family members, and
friends of individuals suffering from Alzheimer's Disease or related memory loss disorders
is being organized in DeKalb County. Support group meetings are held for those who
would benefit from interactions with other individuals who are having similar experiences
in the care of loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer's or related dementias. The
meetings will offer emotional support and discussion of important topics related to the
care of individuals such as the care-giving techniques, coping strategies, behavioral
aspects and legal issues. The group will meet at the Heimach Center, 1800 E. Seventh
St., Auburn, on the first Thursday of each month at 2:00pm. It
is sponsored by DeKalb County Council on Aging, DeKalb Memorial Hospital, DeKalb County
Health Department, DeKalb County Extension Service, and Northeastern Center.
Diabetic Support Group
The DeKalb County Council on Aging and DeKalb Memorial Hospital
cooperatively sponsor the Diabetic Support Group which meets the third Tuesday
of the month at 6:30pm at the Heimach Center, 1800 E. Seventh St., Auburn. Everyone
dealing with diabetes is welcome.
